Calling coming to WhatsApp soon?

Over at XDA Developers there’s a post detailing how to activate the calling feature in WhatsApp. This isn’t particularly functional as yet though, but it does prove that the feature is on its way!

You’ll need to be rooted and have access to a terminal emulator:

su
am start -n com.whatsapp/com.whatsapp.HomeActivity

Here’s the drawbacks:

1) if you want to call someone, the other person must have done the same thing (enabled this feature) in order for that person to receive your call
2) you need to do this every time you want to call
3) someone who already has this feature needs to call you in order for this feature to be activated, I know, that sucks.

So, as of now you can only really see what it’ll look like. I, personally, can’t wait for this feature. The majority of my contacts are on WhatsApp and this will allow me to drop my plan with 3 down to 200 mins!
