AMD Mid-range Gaming build

The first build in the new format is a mid-range gaming machine powered by AMD.

AMD Mid-range Gaming build
CPU - AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
I’ve chosen this CPU because I believe it offers the best price/performance ratio. It’s a 6 core CPU, which will be great for Windows 10, and it’s no slouch
£79.19
CPU Cooler - Stock
It comes with it
£FREE
Scan Computers
Motherboard - MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
I’ve chosen this motherboard for a few reasons. It’s one of the cheapest, it has 8 USB ports on the back, front USB3 header, crossfire support, 6 x SATA III ports, etc
£46.99
Memory - Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
This RAM could have been any DDR3, really.
£33.20
Storage - Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5
I believe every computer needs an SSD to boot from. They’re cheap enough these days not to be a luxury. This one was one of the cheapest 128GB ones. That will be plenty for Windows 10 and your apps.
£37.97
Storage - Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5
And to store all your other things on (Steam library, Origin library, documents, etc)
£33.98
GPU - PowerColor Radeon R9 380 4GB PCS+ Video Card
It was a close call beterrn the R9 380 and the GTX 960 – with this being an AMD build and the motherboard cupporting Crossfire for future upgrades, this seemed the better choice. I’ve gone with the 4GB version because it’s not much more than the 2GB version.
£176.99
Case - NZXT Source 210 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
I’m a bit fan of NZXT. The case is a budget one, but a nice one.
£35.94
PSU - Zalman 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
A good, quiet PSU with gold efficiency that’s semi-modular with enough wattage to allow for another GPU
£71.99
Optical Drive - Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer
Cheapest DVD drive. I don’t think Blu-ray drives are worth it with high speed internet
£9.36

Total cost £525.61 (+ Windows 10)
